Love has always been political, and the systems of domination that built this world understood that.

Colonization, enslavement, and patriarchy didn't only take land and bodies, they also reached into how we love and relate to each other. They taught us to mistake care and connection for control, obedience, silence, and endurance.

They went after our spiritual lives with the same force. Our ancestors never separated the sacred from the mundane. Mind, body and spirit were all one fabric of care. 

Venus+Legacy exists to reclaim that connection.

For years, I struggled with the distance between the clinical systems I worked within and the deeper understanding of healing I carried through my lineage as a descendant of healers in the 21 Divisiones tradition from the Dominican Republic.

As a result, I walked away from my work as a therapist, sure I wasn't coming back.

But that time away became an initiation. I was being prepared to hold ancient wisdom and clinical rigor in right relationship, and the clarity to see that this was liberation work all along.

I was called back as Pluto entered Aquarius, opening a long season of collective upheaval and revolutionary change. I was returning to build differently.

We might’ve inherited ways of loving that were shaped by systems that were never designed for our freedom, but we can learn something else. This is where reclaiming love is in service of personal and collective liberation, and where it has the power to become our inheritance.
